Veterinary School Experience

As a working dairy farm, as well as holiday cottage lets, we have found that we are increasingly receiving enquiries for work experience from students wishing to apply to University for veterinary or animal related courses.

We are more than happy to accommodate students where possible and can put together a package which will allow them to undertake all tasks relating to a dairy herd including:

• Milking
• Foot trimming
• Dry cow therapy
• Calving
• Artificial insemination
• Calf feedingDe-horning and castration of young calves.

All of the above universities are wanting from an applicant, in a field which is becoming more competitive.

We are delighted to say that many students who have completed work experience with us have always been successful gaining places after spending a week with Andrew and his team. References from some of these students, who have gone on to qualify in their chosen subject, and become firm friends, are available on request.

Students usually bring a parent with them to stay in one of our holiday cottage lets, who take the opportunity to visit the local area while the student is on the farm.

Notes:

• Accommodation close by gives access for down time after an early start.
• We offer discounted rates for avoiding school holidays.
• We find some schools give time off for this type of invaluable work experience.
