Disabled access holiday cottages at Gilcar Farm
8th July 2013
Gilcar Farm, in the beautiful village of Emley, near Huddersfield, has three self-catering properties that have been converted into luxurious modern holiday cottages.
The refurbishment work did more than just transform the cottages into stylish holiday accommodation, it also involved the installation of access facilities at two of the properties, to allow people with disabilities to enjoy a comfortable and stress-free stay.
The Blacksmiths Shop and The Six Mistle cottages both have level access and doors wide enough for wheelchairs, along with wet rooms fitted out with Doc-M packs featuring grab rails and raised toilets.
Although the luxury holiday cottages are both two-storey, they each have a ground floor bedroom. There is full access to all sides of the beds in those rooms, with space for the positioning of a portable hoist.
Gilcar Farm is a working dairy farm with livestock located across a country lane from our self-catering holiday cottages, but we are happy to welcome guide and assistance dogs.
We have made every effort to take into consideration the needs of guests who may have problems with mobility, or who are visually or hearing impaired, to ensure anyone who chooses to stay with us has an enjoyable visit.
We would, however, recommend that anyone planning to book a stay in our disabled access holiday accommodation makes us aware of possible issues at the time of enquiry.
